About the Opportunity

Based in North Laverton, we are looking for a Trainee Cartage Coordinator to learn and play a key role in overseeing daily transport operations and ensuring exceptional customer service. You will help deliver tailored delivery solutions across metropolitan and interstate routes.

Key responsibilities include:

• Coordinating metro and interstate freight (air and sea), including cargo collection and container dehire.
• Using systems such as CargoWise1, Newins, and 1Stop for shipment tracking, invoicing, and customs processes.
• Scheduling drivers, allocating fleets, and tracking vehicle movements.
• Managing shipment documentation, PODs, and ensuring invoicing accuracy.
• Overseeing DAWE inspections, customs, and quarantine clearances.
• Handling import/export requirements for DG, temperature-sensitive, and high-value cargo.
• Maintaining effective communication with suppliers and vendors, and negotiating transport rates.
• Tracking deliveries and updating statuses through web portals and internal systems.
• Preparing operational reports and supporting on-time delivery targets.
• Provide accurate cost quotes for transport and storage services.
• Manage all inbound orders via phone, email, and web platforms.
• Maintain and update the client database, calendars, and operational task logs.
• Ensure all Point of Delivery (POD) documents are completed correctly and comply with HACCP standards.
• Act as backup for invoicing staff in time of leave or high invoice workloads and support customs team members with other operational tasks when workloads allow.
