What they need

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and hardworking Trainee Chef to join our busy and growing team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about food, keen to develop their skills and wants to gain experience across a varied and exciting kitchen environment. You’ll work across both our deli kitchen and popular café, learning from an experienced team while playing an important part in the day-to-day running of the business.

The Role

During the week, you’ll be based primarily in our deli kitchen, helping to prepare the delicious food our customers know and love. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing and cooking food for our deli counter.
  • Baking off a range of savoury products for our counter.
  • Preparing our ever-popular ready meals, pies and other homemade products.
  • Helping with food preparation, portioning and presentation.
  • Maintaining high standards of cleanliness, food hygiene and organisation.
  • Learning new skills and developing your knowledge of professional kitchen practices.

You’ll also work every other weekend in our busy café, where you’ll have the opportunity to take on more responsibility and gain experience running a kitchen service.

In the café, you’ll help prepare and serve:

  • Breakfasts
  • Brunches
  • Lunches

You’ll be part of a friendly, hardworking team and will have the opportunity to develop your confidence, speed and kitchen management skills in a busy service environment.

About You

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Passionate about food and keen to build a career in hospitality.
  • Enthusiastic, reliable and willing to learn.
  • A good team player with a positive attitude.
  • Organised and able to work calmly in a busy kitchen.
  • Happy to get stuck in and help wherever needed.
  • Interested in developing their cooking and kitchen skills.
  • Ideally, someone with some previous kitchen, catering or hospitality experience, although enthusiasm and the right attitude are just as important.

What We Offer

This is a varied role where no two days are quite the same. You’ll gain hands-on experience across food preparation, production cooking and café service, with plenty of opportunities to learn and develop.

If you’re looking for your first step into a professional kitchen, or you’re already building your experience and want a role where you can really develop your skills, we’d love to hear from you.
