What they need
Manchester | Trainee Events Manager | Full-time
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
You are probably the person in your group who naturally maps out the plan long before everyone else arrives, the one who double-checks venue timings, keeps track of vendor contact numbers, and anticipates small hiccups before they can spoil an event. You stay level-headed when schedules adjust mid-day, and you get genuine satisfaction from standing back at the end of an event knowing every detail ran like clockwork.
If you want to build a career in live event management and learn how corporate functions, brand showcases, and industry exhibitions are planned and delivered from the ground up, this entry-level role in Manchester is an ideal fit. We are expanding our regional event delivery team and need a practical, highly organized Trainee Events Manager to learn floor logistics, client liaison, and supplier coordination alongside our senior event producers.
Core Trainee Duties & Responsibilities
Working directly with our project leads and senior producers across Greater Manchester, your responsibilities will expand across complete event delivery cycles:
- Learning to draft detailed event run-of-show schedules, room floor plans, and health and safety risk assessments.
- Communicating directly with venue managers, catering staff, and AV technicians across Manchester to confirm delivery setups.
- Managing delegate registration lists, processing ticketing queries, and issuing digital access badges.
- Supervising live reception desks, welcoming speakers, and directing attendee arrival flows on event days.
- Carrying out pre-event technical checks, testing sound and presentation equipment, and verifying directional signage.
- Monitoring live event timelines to ensure keynote speeches, panel Q&As, and catering breaks stay strictly on schedule.
- Overseeing post-event clear-downs, conducting asset inventory counts, and managing equipment returns.
- Compiling delegate feedback data, logging supplier delivery notes, and assisting with master budget reconciliations.
What We Look For
We value clear communication, calm problem-solving, and methodical personal habits far more than years of prior event agency experience. We look for:
- A clear, confident communication style when speaking with clients, venue representatives, and external suppliers.
- Strong personal organization, with a habits-based approach to task checklists and tracking multiple event deadlines.
- A steady, resourceful approach when resolving last-minute timing or setup changes on live event days.
- Sound working knowledge of standard office tools, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and online ticketing software.
- Flexibility to work varied shift patterns, including occasional early mornings or weekend days during live event dates.
- Previous experience in hospitality, front desk administration, customer service, retail, university society leadership, or sales support is a plus, but not essential as full training is provided.
Onboarding & Practical Mentorship
Our training model gives you direct, hands-on experience across every stage of live event management so you can build real confidence on the event floor.
You will begin by shadowing an experienced event manager through complete project lifecycles, from initial client briefings and supplier sourcing to on-site delivery and post-event debriefs. Through weekly one-to-one coaching sessions, you will receive ongoing guidance on budget tracking, contract negotiation, venue risk assessments, and live team direction. As your practical knowledge grows, you will take ownership of smaller standalone sessions before progressing into full Event Manager roles.
Package & Compensation
- Competitive base salary
- Performance-based bonuses linked to event execution standards and client feedback
- Full initial training covering event software, floor logistics, and supplier management
- Weekly one-to-one coaching and continuous professional development
- Practical event management experience across diverse venues in Greater Manchester
