What they need

Join One of the UK's Specialist Restoration Companies

This opportunity is being advertised by Vapor Clean on behalf of our sister company, Restoraction Limited.

Established in 2002, Restoraction Limited specialises in fire, flood and damage restoration, as well as being one of the UK's leading specialist oriental and contemporary rug cleaning companies.

Working alongside insurers, loss adjusters and national restoration networks, Restoraction has built an outstanding reputation for delivering high-quality restoration services, often involving complex losses and high-value properties.

Due to continued growth, we are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Trainee Damage Restoration Technician to join the Restoraction team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a long-term career in the restoration industry. You don't need previous experience in damage restoration, as full training, industry-recognised qualifications and ongoing professional development will be provided.

If you're practical, enjoy problem-solving, take pride in doing a job well and want to learn a skilled trade within a respected specialist business, we'd love to hear from you.

About the Role

This is a varied, hands-on role where no two days are the same. Working alongside experienced restoration technicians, you'll learn how to restore homes and commercial properties following fire, flood and escape of water incidents across Bristol, Gloucestershire and North Somerset.

You'll receive practical, on-the-job training and guidance to develop the technical knowledge, confidence and skills needed to become a qualified restoration professional.

Typical duties and training will include:

  • Assisting with water damage restoration and structural drying.
  • Learning how to carry out fire and smoke damage cleaning.
  • Developing skills in specialist cleaning and restoration techniques.
  • Learning how to use moisture meters and monitor building drying progress.
  • Setting up, monitoring and removing specialist drying equipment.
  • Recording moisture readings and maintaining accurate job records.
  • Learning to prepare reports and use digital job management systems.

Working Hours

40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, on-site: 8:00am – 4:00pm.

As we support a variety of domestic and commercial clients, there may occasionally be opportunities for early morning, evening or overnight work. Any additional hours are paid as overtime, with suitable rest periods provided.

We're looking for someone who is willing to be flexible when required and understands that restoration work can sometimes involve responding to the needs of customers following unexpected property damage.

Essential Requirements

Previous experience in damage restoration is not required. We're more interested in your attitude, work ethic and willingness to learn.

To be considered for this role, you should have:

  • A genuine interest in developing a career in property damage restoration.
  • A positive attitude and a willingness to learn new practical and technical skills.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • A professional, patient and empathetic approach when dealing with customers during difficult situations.
  • The ability to work independently when required and contribute positively as part of a team.
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Basic maths skills and the confidence to learn how to take measurements, record readings and complete job reports.
  • Basic IT skills and a willingness to learn digital systems.
  • An interest in building construction, property maintenance, cleaning or other practical work would be beneficial, but is not essential.
  • A full UK driving licence.
  • Physical fitness suitable for hands-on work, including lifting and moving equipment.
  • The ability to successfully complete a DBS check.

Most importantly, we're looking for someone reliable, hardworking and keen to develop a specialist skill set.

Training and Qualifications Provided

We believe in developing our people and helping them build successful careers.

The successful candidate will receive structured, practical training alongside experienced technicians, with opportunities to gain relevant industry-recognised qualifications, including IICRC and/or BDMA training as appropriate to the role and training pathway.

Training will cover areas such as:

  • Water damage restoration and structural drying.
  • Fire and smoke damage restoration.
  • Moisture measurement and monitoring.
  • Safe use of specialist restoration equipment.
  • Health and safety procedures.
  • Customer care, job documentation and reporting.
  • Industry standards and best practice.

No previous IICRC or BDMA accreditation is required. We'll help you develop the knowledge, experience and qualifications needed to progress within the industry.

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary, based on experience and suitability for the role.
  • Full training and support from experienced restoration professionals.
  • Opportunities to gain industry-recognised qualifications.
  • Ongoing professional development and industry training.
  • Clear opportunities for career progression as your skills and experience grow.
  • Varied and rewarding work, with no two days the same.
  • A supportive, family-run business where your contribution is genuinely valued.
  • The opportunity to work on interesting and technically challenging restoration projects.
  • The chance to build a long-term career in a specialist industry.

Why Join Restoraction?

We're proud of the reputation we've built for quality, professionalism and customer care. As a smaller specialist company, every member of the team plays an important role.

Joining us as a trainee means you'll have the opportunity to learn directly from experienced professionals, gain practical skills, work towards recognised qualifications and develop into a confident, capable restoration technician.

You'll be involved in work that genuinely makes a difference to people's lives, helping homeowners and businesses recover after unexpected events such as fires, floods and water damage.

You don't need to know everything on day one. You just need the right attitude, a willingness to learn and the commitment to deliver high standards.
