Trainee Laser Assistant – Progression to Laser Programmer/Operator

About Us

We are a small, family-run business specialising in waterjet cutting, laser cutting, and fabrication. We're looking for a motivated Trainee Laser Assistant to join our team, with excellent opportunities to develop into a fully trained laser programmer and operator.

The Role

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to start a career in laser cutting and engineering. You'll begin by supporting our laser operations and gradually build your skills towards programming and running the laser independently.

Initial responsibilities include:

• Loading and unloading the laser cutting machine
• Managing and organising sheet material stock
• Inspecting finished parts for quality
• Packaging completed parts ready for customer collection
• Maintaining a clean, tidy, and organised workshop

As you progress, you'll receive full training on:

• Forklift operation (training provided, no experience necessary)
• Laser programming and setup
• Independently running and operating the laser cutter

What We're Looking For

• A strong work ethic and willingness to learn
• Good attention to detail, particularly for quality inspection
• Reliable, punctual, and a team player
• Previous experience in a workshop/manufacturing is a bonus but not essential — full training will be provided

Pay: From £12.71 per hour
