What they need

Job Title: Trainee Manager
Location: Middlesbrough, North Yorkshire
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9 am - 6 pm

The Opportunity

We are recruiting a Trainee Manager to join our team in Middlesbrough. This is a structured management development role for people who want a long-term career in leadership and are willing to build it from the ground up.

Effective managers understand the business at every level. You will begin by working directly with customers and campaigns, learning how performance is measured and what good standards look like. As you demonstrate consistency and capability, you will be given the opportunity to coach colleagues and take on greater responsibility.

Stage One: Learn

You will begin by building a solid understanding of the work itself. This stage is about getting the fundamentals right and showing you can be relied on. You will:

  • Learn how our campaigns run day to day
  • Develop your customer acquisition skills
  • Get to know our company and client standards
  • Understand KPIs and what is expected of you
  • Build commercial awareness
  • Show consistency and accountability in your work

Stage Two: Lead

Once you have shown you can do the job well, your development can widen to include other people. This may involve:

  • Supporting newer team members
  • Giving constructive feedback
  • Helping with training
  • Motivating a small team
  • Monitoring performance
  • Solving problems as they come up
  • Setting an example for professional standards

Stage Three: Develop

With strong results and the right capability, you may gain exposure to campaign management, team development, planning and performance analysis, along with greater responsibility. Progression is based on performance, capability and development. It is earned and is not automatic, and we do not promise a set time frame.

What We’ll Look For

You do not need any previous management experience to have shown leadership. We are looking for people who show:

  • Accountability: You own your results, including the ones that went wrong, and you work out what to change.
  • Emotional intelligence: You notice how people are feeling and adjust how you talk to them, especially when things get tense.
  • Decision-making: You can make a sensible call with the information you have, and you know when to ask for advice.
  • Self-discipline: You stay focused on the quiet days and keep your standards up when nobody is watching.
  • Resilience: You can take a knockback, shake it off and make the next call a good one.
  • Openness to feedback: You listen, ask questions and put advice into practice.
  • Communication: You speak clearly and confidently, and you listen as well as you talk.
  • Drive and influence: You do not wait to be told what to do next, and people enjoy working with you and want to follow your lead.

Your background could be competitive sport, hospitality supervision, retail, sales, volunteering, university societies, or any role where you were given responsibility and took it seriously. If that sounds like you, please apply, even if your experience does not match the list exactly.

What You’ll Get Back

  • Structured coaching from experienced colleagues
  • Management development as you progress through each stage
  • Practical, hands-on experience from the start
  • Competitive base pay and bonuses
  • Performance rewards and recognition for good work
  • Company social and team events
  • Opportunities to take on greater responsibility

If you want a role that rewards effort, consistency and character, and you are ready to learn a business properly before leading in it, please submit your CV through Indeed for consideration for the role of Trainee Manager in Middlesbrough.
