Trainee - Non-Destructive Testing (NDT)

About the role

Testing Inspection & Calibration Services P/L is seeking a Trainee – Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) to join our growing team in Townsville, QLD. This is a full-time position that offers an excellent opportunity to launch your NDT career. As a trainee, you will work alongside experienced professionals, gaining hands-on experience in non-destructive testing techniques whilst developing the skills and knowledge required to become a competent NDT technician. This role is fundamental to ensuring the quality, safety and integrity of components and structures across various industries.

What you'll be doing

• Assisting experienced NDT technicians in performing non-destructive testing inspections using various techniques such as ultrasonic testing, radiography, magnetic particle inspection and dye penetrant testing
• Learning to prepare test specimens and equipment in accordance with industry standards and procedures
• Recording and documenting test results and inspection findings accurately and clearly
• Following all safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment
• Supporting the maintenance and calibration of NDT equipment under supervision
• Assisting with the organisation and storage of testing materials and equipment
• Participating in training programmes and working towards relevant NDT certifications
• Communicating effectively with team members and adhering to quality assurance standards

What we're looking for

• A keen interest in pursuing a career in non-destructive testing and the technician field
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to work with precision when handling testing equipment
• Good manual dexterity and the ability to work in varying physical conditions
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• A commitment to safety and adherence to workplace procedures
• Willingness to learn and pursue NDT certifications
• A valid driver's licence is preferred
• Physical fitness to perform tasks that may involve working at heights or in confined spaces
