Albany Homes Construction is a certified woman-owned general contractor serving residential and commercial clients. We bring care, craftsmanship, and personal attention to every project, regardless of its size or budget—and the same respect to the people on our team.

We are a small team where your contribution matters. You will work directly with the owner, have opportunities to suggest improvements, and take responsibility for seeing tasks through. We value clear communication, practical problem-solving, and pride in a job well done.

We are looking for someone with some construction experience, strong office and computer skills, and an interest in developing into a construction project manager. You will learn directly from the owner while helping coordinate projects, purchasing, permits, inspections, and administration.

This role combines substantial office work with visits to job sites. You should enjoy organizing information, working with numbers, following up with people, and keeping paperwork accurate, as well as being involved in the progress of construction work. Training will be provided in our estimating methods and project management processes.

Starting pay: $25 per hour. Performance and pay review after 90 days, based on demonstrated skills, accuracy, follow-through, and the responsibilities you can handle independently.

What you will do

Project coordination and site support

  • Assist the owner with planning work, coordinating subcontractors, and tracking project progress.
  • Visit job sites to check progress, document updates, and identify matters requiring the owner’s attention.
  • Help coordinate workers, subcontractors, material deliveries, and inspections.
  • Track outstanding tasks and follow up to help keep projects moving.
  • Record changes, additional work, and material requirements for the owner’s review.
  • Communicate with English- and Spanish-speaking workers, suppliers, and subcontractors.

Purchasing, estimating, and permits

  • Obtain and compare material prices, place orders, and follow up on deliveries.
  • Assist with estimates, material take-offs, and quantity calculations.
  • Request subcontractor quotations and follow up on outstanding information.
  • Prepare and submit permit applications, coordinate supporting documents, and follow up with building departments.
  • Schedule inspections, track results, and coordinate any required follow-up or re-inspections.
  • Keep project documents, permit records, and subcontractor paperwork organized and current.

Business and personal administrative support

  • Support the bookkeeper by locating receipts and invoices, matching them to bank and credit card statement transactions, and obtaining missing documentation.
  • Handle general office administration and clerical tasks.
  • Assist the owner with personal administration, including medical paperwork, health insurance claims, and follow-up with providers and insurers.
  • Handle business, financial, and personal information with discretion and confidentiality.

Essential experience and skills

  • Some previous construction experience, with a basic understanding of construction activities, materials, and terminology.
  • Strong administrative skills and confidence handling detailed office work.
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Able to communicate clearly in English and Spanish, verbally and in writing.
  • Accurate arithmetic and an understanding of basic geometry for calculating material quantities.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and reliable about following tasks through to completion.
  • Able to prioritize work, meet deadlines, and adapt when plans change.
  • Comfortable working independently, asking questions, and identifying when an issue needs the owner’s input.
  • Professional and helpful when dealing with clients, workers, suppliers, subcontractors, and building department staff.
  • Able to travel between the office and local job sites.
  • Interested in learning construction project management while contributing to the administrative work that supports it.

Preferred experience

  • Construction office administration or project coordination.
  • Purchasing, estimating, or material take-offs.
  • Permit applications, municipal permitting portals, and inspection scheduling.
  • Organizing receipts and financial records for a bookkeeper.

Please submit your résumé and a short explanation of your construction experience, your office and computer skills, and why you want to develop into a project management role.
