We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Trainee Retail Store Manager to join our team, based in Cork. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with retail experience who is looking to develop their management skills and progress their career.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with managing, motivating and supporting the retail team.
• Help ensure the store is fully staffed and appropriately covered during busy periods.
• Assist with staff rotas, attendance and daily task allocation.
• Provide excellent customer service and deal professionally with customer queries or complaints.
• Support the team in achieving sales, service and operational targets.
• Assist with stock management, including deliveries, replenishment, stock rotation and stock checks.
• Ensure products are correctly displayed, priced and presented to a high standard.
• Support the management of cash handling, tills and end-of-day procedures.
• Ensure the store is maintained to a high standard of cleanliness, organisation and presentation.
• Assist with implementing company policies and procedures.
• Support health and safety, food safety and compliance requirements within the store.
• Assist with promotions, merchandising and seasonal campaigns.
• Monitor stock levels and report shortages, waste or discrepancies to management.
• Help identify opportunities to improve sales, customer experience and store performance.
• Lead by example and promote a positive, professional and team-focused working environment.
• Take on increased responsibility as training and experience develop.

Training & Development

As a Trainee Retail Store Manager, you will receive structured on-the-job training and development across areas including:

• Retail operations
• Team leadership and people management
• Customer service
• Stock management
• Cash handling and till procedures
• Sales and KPI management
• Health & safety
• Food safety and compliance
• Staff scheduling and workforce planning
• Merchandising and promotions
• Store administration

The successful candidate will gradually take on increased responsibility, with the objective of progressing into a Retail Store Manager role.

Requirements

Essential:

• Previous experience working in a retail or customer-facing environment.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work as part of a team and support colleagues.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment.
• Flexibility to work across different shifts, including weekends where required.

Desirable:

• Previous supervisory or team leader experience.
• Experience working with retail KPIs or sales targets.
• Experience with stock management or merchandising.
• Experience within a food retail or wholesale environment.
• Previous experience supporting staff rotas or scheduling.

About the Job

• Approx 40 hours per week

• 5/7 roster

• Weekly Pay
