About the Role

We're looking for Trainee Surveyors to join our growing Geomatics team at Bridgeway.

This is an exciting opportunity to start or develop your career within the rail and infrastructure industry, working alongside experienced survey professionals on projects across the UK.

As a Trainee Surveyor, you'll be involved in the measurement and surveying of railway assets including track, bridges, structures and other infrastructure. You'll work with cutting-edge technology such as laser scanners and rail-mounted survey equipment, helping to collect high-quality data that supports the safe delivery of major rail projects.

This role combines outdoor site work, office-based activities and opportunities to work from home. No two days are the same, and you'll gain experience across a variety of locations, projects and technologies while developing valuable technical skills.

What You'll Be Doing

• Assisting with the surveying and measurement of railway assets and infrastructure
• Working with modern surveying equipment, including laser scanners and rail-mounted systems
• Collecting and recording accurate site data
• Supporting the production of plans, drawings and digital models
• Assisting with survey data processing using specialist software
• Working safely within railway and construction environments
• Travelling to project sites across the UK when required
• Supporting the wider Geomatics team in delivering high-quality survey services
• Developing your technical knowledge and professional skills through structured training and mentoring

• Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Good IT skills and willingness to learn specialist software packages
• Good communication and organisational skills
• Flexibility to work nights and weekends
• Full UK manual driving licence

Desirable

• Previous experience in rail, construction, civil engineering or other outdoor/site-based roles
• Technical drawing or CAD experience
• Civil Engineering qualification, degree or equivalent
• Previous surveying experience

• Railway safety-critical training up to COSS/SWL1 level
• Technical development and mentoring towards membership of the Chartered Institute of Civil Engineering Surveyors (ICES)
