We are seeking a Trainee Technical Field Representative (TFR) to work across our Invercargill, Winton and Wyndham teams.
PGG Wrightson is one of New Zealand's leading providers of products and services to the agricultural and horticultural sectors. We are helping grow the country through our knowledge, service and expertise.
Under the guidance and support of our experienced TFRs and Store Manager, you'll learn about our complex business through a programme of training designed to provide a broad 'generalist' understanding and ability. You'll learn everything from sales and technical knowledge through to client management and systems.
Based out of the Invercargill, Winton and Wyndham PGG Wrightson stores, you'll learn from experienced mentors across the Southland region.
What does a day in the life of a Trainee TFR look like?
"I say to people it's the best job in the world. If you like being outdoors and working on farm, it's the job for you! Not only are you learning under some of the best Reps in the country, but you are also continually supported by a massive network of people within PGW, right from the storeman all the way to the CEO." - Ben Chambers, Former Trainee TFR
You'll learn about:
- Our clients and how to manage a client base while maintaining excellent customer service
- Quoting, contracts, systems and processes that support our commercial operations
- Specialist areas of agriculture, including agronomy and various crop sectors
- Professional relationships with other external organisations
- Compliance and legislation that plays a key role in the industry
- The wider PGG Wrightson business, including our Livestock, Wool, Corporate and Real Estate Business Units.
About the role:
- Introduction to all facets of PGG Wrightson's successful Retail Business
- Full-time permanent role supported by a comprehensive training programme and our 18-month academy
- Split your time between working on farm and in the office
- Opportunity to build relationships and your own portfolio.
Why should you apply for our Trainee TFR role?
"As a Trainee, the continuous support and training from mentors and fellow reps really help set me up to becoming a TFR at PGG Wrightson." - Mitch Carter, Former Trainee TFR
We're looking for candidates with:
- Enthusiasm and passion for the New Zealand agriculture or horticulture industries
- A passion for the area and our clients
- The ability to relate to New Zealand growers and build solid relationships with a range of clients
- Practical horticultural or farming experience is strongly preferred.
- A relevant tertiary qualification would be advantageous, but is not essential
- A full, current and clean NZ driver's licence.
