Looking for a career rather than just a job? We are seeking an enthusiastic and professional Trainee Water Hygiene Technician to join our growing Water Hygiene team. No previous water hygiene experience is required as full training, and industry-recognised qualifications will be provided.

Water hygiene is a growing and essential industry that helps protect public health through the management and control of water systems. This role offers the opportunity to gain specialist technical skills whilst building a long-term career within a sector that offers excellent progression opportunities.

The successful candidate will work alongside experienced technicians, learning the skills required to carry out water hygiene monitoring, inspections, sampling, cleaning and remedial works across a varied client portfolio throughout Lancashire and surrounding areas.

Following successful completion of the probationary period and training programme, employees will progress onto the next salary band within the Company Water Hygiene Technician pay structure.

Role responsibilities

  • Temperature monitoring of hot and cold-water systems.

  • Water sampling in accordance with company procedures.

  • Inspection and cleaning of cold-water storage tanks.

  • Cleaning and disinfecting shower heads, hoses and spray outlets.

  • Flushing of infrequently used outlets.

  • Inspection, servicing and testing of Thermostatic Mixing Valves (TMVs).

  • Completion of electronic service reports using handheld devices.

  • Assisting with remedial plumbing works and disinfection activities.

  • Supporting experienced technicians with site inspections and compliance tasks.

  • Maintaining accurate records in line with current guidance and company procedures.

Our successful candidate:

Essential

  • Full UK driving licence.

  • Good written and verbal communication skills.

  • Basic IT skills and confidence using tablets/mobile devices.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn.

  • Ability to travel throughout the region as required.

  • Successful completion of a DBS check.

Desirable

  • GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent).

  • Previous experience within facilities management, construction or engineering.

  • A background in plumbing or water services would be advantageous but is not essential.

  • Awareness of Legionella control measures and water hygiene practices.

  • Experience using Microsoft Office applications.

Our Offer

  • Full training with industry-recognised qualifications.

  • Structured salary progression following training and probation.

  • Regular Monday to Friday working hours.

  • Long-term career opportunities within a growing industry.

  • Opportunities to progress into Senior Water Hygiene Technician, Supervisor and Legionella Risk Assessor roles.

  • Full uniform, equipment and ongoing support provided.

  • Company benefits package including pension and annual leave entitlement.

An enhanced DBS check will be required for our successful candidate; payment will be met by the employer.

We are committed to employment practices and behaviours which encourage diversity, promote equality of treatment and eliminate unlawful and or unfair discrimination.

We reserve the right to close this vacancy once we have received sufficient applications. If you have not been contacted within two weeks of the date you apply, please assume that your application has not been successful and will not be progressed to the next stage.
