What they need

Training & Development Program Lead

Build Better Training. Strengthen Skills. Help Employees Succeed.

Position Summary

We’re seeking a hands-on Training & Development Program Lead to build and continuously improve DCC’s training programs, systems, and resources. This individual-contributor role partners with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), HR, Quality, peer trainers, and department leaders to turn manufacturing processes and technical knowledge into clear, visual, and practical training materials.

The Program Lead owns the training framework, documentation, coordination, measurement, and follow-through. SMEs and functional leaders own technical content and approval, while department leaders retain responsibility for employee supervision and performance. This position has no direct reports and leads through collaboration and influence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Technical Writer and SMEs to create SOPs, Work Instructions, flowcharts, job aids, checklists, videos, presentations, visual standards, and hands-on training materials.
  • Observe manufacturing processes and interview SMEs to document best practices, common defects, troubleshooting methods, and lessons learned.
  • Organize training resources so employees can quickly find and understand required information.
  • Own and standardize DCC’s training framework, including delivery, access, measurement, and continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate orientation across Safety, Quality, HR/compliance, classroom, hands-on, and production-floor learning.
  • Create role-based learning plans outlining required skills, training order, timelines, competencies, and completion.
  • Support certification, recertification, and retraining programs, using weld certification and in-role specialist programs as initial benchmarks.
  • Develop department training matrices for leaders to maintain.
  • Coordinate peer trainers and establish annual training calendars to track completion and effectiveness.
  • Build a centralized glossary and library of SOPs, videos, workbooks, and reference materials.
  • Partner with HR and leaders to document career paths, skills, certifications, development milestones, and compensation progression with proper approval.
  • Support Quality audits and continuously improve training content and systems.

Qualifications

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in Technical Communication, Training and Development, Manufacturing, Engineering Technology, Business, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • Experience in technical writing, process documentation, training-content development, manufacturing documentation, or program coordination preferred.
  • Manufacturing experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience creating SOPs, Work Instructions, visual instructions, or training materials preferred.
  • Strong writing, presentation, interviewing, active-listening, visual communication, organization, and project-coordination skills.
  • Ability to translate manufacturing processes into clear, step-by-step instructions.
  • Comfortable working on the manufacturing floor and collaborating across all organizational levels.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to learn document-management, learning-management, video, graphics, and process-mapping tools.
  • Strong commitment to safety, quality, confidentiality, and respectful communication.
  • Prior supervisory experience is not required.

Culture and Working Conditions

We value approachable, collaborative employees who welcome feedback, support continuous learning, participate in company activities, maintain confidentiality, and demonstrate Integrity, Trust, Creativity and Courage, Teamwork, and Excellence.

This role involves a fast-paced manufacturing environment, prolonged computer work, some standing and walking, occasional noise and temperature changes, and lifting up to 15 pounds. Travel by air and car, including occasional overnight stays, is required. A valid driver’s license is required.

Attendance Requirements: Attendance on a regular, consistent basis is mandatory.

Accommodations: Essential functions of this position may include but are not limited to lifting, reaching, bending, stooping, twisting, kneeling, crouching, carrying objects, ascending/descending stairs and commuting to work location.
