SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITY

• Responsible for converting written material from Japanese language to English language, or vice versa, ensuring that the translated version conveys the meaning of the original as clearly as possible. Supports during business functions by interpreting spoken language statements from Japanese to English language and vice versa, to support people who are not fluent in the language to ensure understanding of the English language.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Read through original material and rewrite it in the target language, ensuring that the meaning of the source text is retained
• Use Translation software to ensure consistency of translation within documents and help efficiency
• Use specialist dictionaries, thesauruses and reference books to find the closest equivalent for terminology and words used.
• Liaise with clients or requesters to discuss any unclear points
• Proofreads and edits final translated versions
• Provides clients or requesters with a grammatically correct, well-expressed final version of the translated text
• Prioritizes work to meet deadlines
• Attend meetings and business functions upon request and translate information into required language
• Monitor, track, and manage own translation tasks
• Coordinate with stakeholders to plot, manage, and track translation schedules
• Identify best practice and apply to applicable documents or projects
• Update Translation Memory according to best practices and updated expression or terminologies
• Perform tasks and projects as maybe assigned by management

REQUIREMENTS

Education / Experience

• University Graduate, preferably of IT or Computer Engineering -related courses
• Typically requires minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience
• Knowledge of and experience with printer software solution business is preferred
• Have a very positive work attitude including willing to work some longer hours during peak periods.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Self-motivated to learn new concepts and participate
