Duties

• Diagnose transmission issues using automotive diagnostics tools and schematics, ensuring accurate identification of mechanical or electrical faults.
• Repair and rebuild transmissions, including disassembly, inspection, replacement of worn parts, and reassembly, adhering to manufacturer specifications.
• Perform transmission fluid exchanges, oil changes, and maintenance procedures to optimize vehicle powertrain performance.
• Conduct comprehensive inspections of mechanical systems related to transmissions, such as clutch assemblies, torque converters, and gear sets.
• Utilize hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and mechanical knowledge to execute repairs efficiently and safely.
• Test drive vehicles post-repair to verify transmission functionality and ensure customer satisfaction.
• Maintain detailed service records and communicate repair findings clearly to team members and customers.

Qualifications

• Proven experience working in the automotive repair industry with a focus on transmissions; dealership experience is highly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of automotive electrical systems, mechanical systems repair, and diesel engine repair.
• Familiarity with schematics, automotive diagnostics, ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems), air brake systems, and suspension repairs.
• Hands-on experience with heavy equipment mechanics, tire service, shocks & struts, brake repair, wheel alignments, and oil changes.
• Ability to read technical manuals and schematics accurately; excellent mechanical knowledge is essential.
• Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and auto estimating software is advantageous.
• Exceptional customer service skills combined with a proactive approach to vehicle maintenance and repairs.
• Relevant certifications such as ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) or manufacturer-specific training are a plus; dealership or GM vehicle experience is beneficial.
