Transport Manager

OT Milk Distributors Limited is seeking a reliable and motivated Transport Manager to join its team in Hamilton, Waikato region. The business operates a milk receiving and distribution depot, and the role involves overseeing day-to-day transport operations, managing delivery activities and drivers, coordinating transport schedules, and ensuring the efficient operation and maintenance of the delivery fleet.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage daily distribution and transport operations to ensure timely, accurate, and efficient delivery services.
• Plan and allocate delivery routes and schedules to optimise transport efficiency and maintain reliable delivery services.
• Recruit, train, and supervise drivers and operational staff to maintain a productive and effective transport team.
• Oversee vehicle maintenance and servicing schedules to ensure the delivery fleet remains compliant, safe, and roadworthy.
• Monitor operational costs, including fuel usage and transport budgets, to support cost efficiency and effective business operations.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety requirements and relevant transport regulations applicable to milk distribution operations.
• Handle and resolve delivery delays, service disruptions, and customer issues in a prompt and professional manner.
• Track and evaluate key performance indicators to monitor delivery performance, service quality, and operational efficiency.
• Maintain strong working relationships with clients, suppliers, and other key stakeholders involved in the distribution operation.
• Utilise transport and logistics management systems for route planning, delivery tracking, and operational reporting.
• Prepare operational and financial reports for senior management to support transport planning and business decision-making.

You will be required to work for a minimum of 30 hours per week and will be paid between $35 to $40 per hour, subject to skills and requirements.

Other Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years of industry experience or at least a relevant level 5 qualification.
• Availability to work on weekends if required.
• Good leadership and people management skills.
• Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise delivery schedules and transport activities.
• Reliable, proactive, and capable of managing responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to make sound decisions under pressure and resolve transport and delivery issues.

Pay: $35.00 – $40.00 per hour
