Transport Manager

Overview

A transport manager for a taxi or private hire/passenger company oversees fleet safety, driver compliance, and legal adherence to operator licensing rules. They'll also handle the phones and the dispatch of jobs, quoting, and billing of accounts. Acting as the main point of contact

Responsibilities

• Legal Compliance: Ensures the business and its drivers follow local licensing laws, vehicle standards, and driver regulations.
• Fleet Maintenance: Schedules routine vehicle inspections, MOT tests, servicing, and prompt repairs for any reported defects.
• Driver Oversight: Monitors driver documents, licensing status, training, and working or rest hour limits where applicable.
• Phone Operator: Operate the phones and in-house dispatch system.
• Cover Driver: Cover school runs and busy periods on the road.

Qualifications

• Must currently hold Plymouth City Council or South Hams taxi license - if Plymouth only is held, happy to obtain South Hams in the future.
• Knowledge of local licensing rules preferred, but not essential.
• Experience in the local taxi industry preferred, but not essential.

Pay: £140.00-£160.00 per day
