Transport Planner (4 on 4 off)

Role Overview

• Job Title: Transport Planner
• Salary: £35k–£38k (DOE)
• Location: Coalville
• Shift Pattern: 4 on 4 off (6:00 AM – 6:00 PM) , we also have a nights role if you'd prefer that.

Key Responsibilities

• Routing & Load Planning: Plan daily workloads, multi-drop deliveries, Tail Lift, and Moffett loads to maximize fleet revenue and minimize empty running (>50 miles).
• Backloads: Source reloads and collections using Haulage Hub and Haulage Exchange.
• Driver & Shift Management: Brief/debrief drivers, track progress via Samsara, handle queries, provide traffic updates, and source agency cover when needed.
• Compliance: Enforce Drivers' Hours, Working Time Directive, ADR rules, and Operator Licence/DVSA standards. Check driver vehicle defects (Blue Crystal) and report maintenance needs.
• System Administration: Update Qargo in real-time, maintain the Weekly Ops Sheet, and ensure accurate paperwork/label checks.
• Communication & Handovers: Coordinate with warehouse/depot teams and provide structured handovers to incoming planners at the end of each shift block.

Requirements

• Experience: Prior transport planning in a fast-paced office managing driver performance and compliance.
• Systems: Proficiency with systems like Qargo, Samsara/Verilocation, and defect software (e.g., Tranzaura/Blue Crystal). Load-matching tool experience preferred.
• Knowledge: Deep understanding of drivers' hours, WTD, tachographs, ADR, and general Operator Licence requirements.
• Skills: Strong communication, self-motivation, numeracy, IT literacy, and keen attention to detail.

Pay: £35,000.00-£38,000.00 per year
