What they need

Transport Refrigeration Technician (Experienced): Keep the Cold Chain Moving

Pay: From CA$35.00 per hour (based on experience and ticket level) + Incentives

Job description:

When a reefer goes down, a load of fresh food, frozen goods or medicine is on the clock. Customers count on us to find the problem, fix it right and get them back on the road, and we’re looking for an experienced technician who can lead the way.

We’re hiring a seasoned Transport Refrigeration Technician for our TRU-Trailer team. You’ll troubleshoot, repair and install temperature-controlled transportation systems on trucks, trailers and vans. When the tough diagnostic jobs come in, our team will look to you. If you know refrigeration, electrical and diesel systems inside and out and take pride in fixing it right the first time, this is your spot.

Work hard, then get your time back. Our day-shift rotation averages 40 hours a week, has no night shifts, gives you 7 days off every 2 weeks, and includes a 3-day weekend every other week.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Troubleshooting and repairing temperature-controlled transportation systems on trucks, trailers and vans
  • Diagnosing complex faults using scanners, electronic test equipment, on-board controllers and diagnostic software
  • Completing preventive maintenance, component replacement and full service on refrigeration equipment
  • Installing new refrigeration units on trailers, trucks and vans
  • Recovering, evacuating and charging refrigerant to spec and in line with environmental regulations
  • Reading wiring diagrams and finding root causes, not just replacing parts
  • Completing clear, accurate work orders so our service advisors can keep customers informed
  • Mentoring apprentices and yard technicians and sharing your knowledge with the team

What we’re looking for:

  • Journeyperson Transport Refrigeration Technician certificate (or an advanced apprentice close to completion)
  • 4+ years of hands-on transport refrigeration experience
  • 2+ years of mechanical and electrical experience (diesel engine experience is a strong asset)
  • Ozone Depletion Prevention (ODP) / refrigerant handling certification
  • Experience with unit installs on trailers, trucks and vans
  • Confidence using diagnostic scanners, laptops and manufacturer software
  • A valid Class 5 licence with a clean abstract (Class 1 is an asset)
  • Your own professional set of hand tools
  • Assets: trailer repair or CVIP experience, manufacturer training or certifications, or lead-hand experience

Where this can take you:

This is more than another wrench job. It’s a chance to be a go-to tech on a team that values skilled tradespeople. You’ll work alongside our trailer technicians, parts team and service advisors every day, and your experience will set the standard in our shop. Bring your skills and your drive, and we’ll invest in you, with manufacturer training, the newest equipment and a clear path into lead technician and shop leadership roles.

The best techs in this industry never stop learning. Bring your experience, share what you know and build your future with us.
