Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Transportation Driver/Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide safe and reliable transportation for individuals with diverse needs. This role combines driving responsibilities with direct support duties, ensuring passengers’ safety, comfort, and well-being during transit. Duties

• Safely operate various vehicles including vans, transit buses, or school buses in accordance with traffic laws and transportation safety regulations
• Assist passengers with wheelchair assistance and ensure proper use of safety restraints
• Provide excellent customer service by communicating clearly and courteously with passengers and their families
• Follow emergency response procedures for transportation incidents and perform quick responses to traffic changes or hazards
• Conduct vehicle inspections before and after trips, including checking for vehicle codes compliance and heavy lifting requirements
• Maintain accurate logs of trips, passenger information, and incident reports in accordance with school policy knowledge and state regulations
• Support behavior management strategies when working with children or individuals requiring additional support during transit

Experience

• Proven experience in bus driving, commercial driving, or transit bus operation
• Prior work experience working with children or individuals requiring personal assistance or childcare support is preferred
• Knowledge of traffic laws, defensive driving techniques, emergency stop procedures, and transportation safety regulations is essential
• Multilingual skills are a plus for effective communication with diverse populations
• Demonstrated ability to handle heavy lifting safely and perform vehicle maintenance checks as needed
• Strong communication skills combined with patience and empathy to foster positive interactions with passengers of all ages

Pay: $17.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week
