Transportation Engineer | Build Your Career Across Transport & Land Development
Ready to take the next step in your transport engineering career? This is an opportunity to join a well-established multidisciplinary consultancy where you’ll work across varied projects, learn from experienced engineers and have genuine room to grow.
About the company
You’ll join a collaborative, multidisciplinary consultancy working across transport, civil engineering, land development, surverying and planning. The team works on a mix of public and private sector projects, giving you exposure to different challenges rather than the same project type day in, day out.
There’s a strong focus on quality work, professional development and building long-term client relationships.
About the role
As a Transportation Engineer, you’ll work on a broad range of transport engineering projects, with the support of experienced senior engineers when you’re tackling more complex work.
You’ll have the opportunity to develop your technical capability across transport assessments, traffic modelling, swept path analysis, site inspections and transport planning, while gaining greater exposure to clients, councils and multidisciplinary project teams.
It’s a role designed for someone who wants to keep learning, take on more responsibility and build towards the next stage of their career.
What's on offer
- A varied project portfolio across transport, infrastructure and land development.
- Genuine mentoring from experienced senior engineers.
- Clear opportunities to take on more responsibility and progress your career.
- Support towards Engineering New Zealand membership and professional development.
- A collaborative multidisciplinary environment where you’ll work alongside other technical specialists.
- The chance to build strong client and stakeholder relationships while developing your technical skills.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare transportation assessments, technical reports and calculations.
- Undertake traffic modelling, surveys and swept path analysis.
- Complete site inspections and review transport layouts.
- Contribute to integrated transport assessments and master planning.
- Apply NZ standards, codes and local authority requirements to project work.
- Liaise with clients, councils and other project stakeholders.
- Work closely with civil, planning and surveying teams.
- Deliver projects within agreed timeframes, budgets and quality standards.
What you will need
- A Civil Engineering, Transport Planning/Engineering or relevant degree or qualification.
- 2+ years experience in transport or traffic engineering, ideally within a consultancy environment.
- An understanding of NZ transport standards, codes and local authority requirements.
- Experience with transportation assessments, traffic modelling or land development projects.
- Exposure to ITAs, and SIDRA would be advantageous.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- A current NZ Driver Licence.
- Engineering New Zealand membership, or a genuine commitment to working towards it.
If you’re looking for a role where you can broaden your project experience, learn from people who know their stuff and have a clear pathway to progress, this is well worth a conversation.
