Transportation Specialist

Join our growing team at Schmitty & Sons! We’re seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Student Transportation Specialist to join our team at our Golden Valley, MN facility. This full-time position is crucial in supporting the day-to-day operations of our school transportation services.

Schedule:
Monday – Friday, 10:00am - 7:00pm

Job Responsibilities

• Ensure smooth and timely daily check-in and dispatch of school bus routes
• Monitor radio communications and coordinate with drivers in real-time
• Respond to service issues including late buses, breakdowns, and emergencies
• Maintain accurate documentation of incidents, accidents, and vehicle service issues
• Assist with route planning, GPS monitoring, and communication of detours or changes
• Serve as the front-line contact for inbound parent, school, and internal communications via phone and email
• Support drivers and school staff with timely, effective, and friendly communication

What We’re Looking For

• Proficient with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Organized and detail-focused with a proactive, can-do attitude
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
• Able to multitask and remain calm under pressure

Other Requirements

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently
• Strong, positive team player with the ability to also work independently
• Must obtain (within 90 days of hire) a Class B CDL with passenger and school bus endorsements and pass a valid DOT physical (training provided)
