What they need

Transpo Group is a transportation planning and engineering consulting firm focused on creating safer, more efficient, and more vibrant communities. For more than 25 years, we have built our reputation as trusted transportation experts, delivering innovative solutions for public agencies, institutions, and private clients throughout the Pacific Northwest.

As our transportation design practice continues to grow, we are expanding our in-house stormwater engineering capabilities to support larger and more complex transportation projects. This position represents an exciting opportunity to join a growing team and play a key role in shaping the future of our drainage practice.

Position Overview

Transpo Group is seeking a licensed Professional Engineer with experience in transportation-related stormwater and drainage design. The successful candidate will lead the preparation of drainage analyses and design documents for roadway, multimodal, and transportation infrastructure projects throughout Washington State.

This position is ideal for an engineer who enjoys technical work and is excited by the opportunity to help grow a developing practice area within an established transportation consulting firm. While the immediate focus will be project delivery, there will be opportunities to help expand Transpo's stormwater capabilities and assume increasing leadership responsibilities as the practice grows.

What You'll Do

  • Prepare and oversee stormwater analyses and drainage designs for transportation improvement projects.
  • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic calculations and analyses.
  • Develop stormwater management, conveyance, and treatment designs.
  • Prepare drainage reports, technical memoranda, plans, specifications, and supporting documentation.
  • Coordinate closely with roadway designers, traffic engineers, planners, and environmental specialists.
  • Support permitting efforts and compliance with local, state, and federal stormwater requirements.
  • Participate in project meetings and collaborate directly with agency and municipal clients.
  • Assist in developing internal stormwater design standards, tools, and best practices.
  • Support proposal development and project pursuits when stormwater expertise is needed.

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Washington State or ability to obtain through reciprocity.
  • 5+ years of experience in stormwater or drainage engineering.
  • Experience preparing drainage analyses and design documents for transportation or municipal infrastructure projects.
  • Working knowledge of Washington State stormwater regulations and design practices.
  • Strong communication and technical writing skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.

Preferred

  • Experience with WSDOT drainage design requirements.
  • Experience with roadway improvement, corridor, intersection, and multimodal projects.
  • Familiarity with transportation project delivery processes.
  • Interest in growing technical responsibilities and contributing to the development of a stormwater practice.

Why Join Transpo?

At many firms, you may be one of dozens of drainage engineers working within an established department. At Transpo, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on both projects and the future direction of a growing service area.

You'll work alongside recognized leaders in transportation planning, traffic engineering, and roadway design while helping expand a capability that is increasingly important to our continued growth as a prime consultant. For the right candidate, this role offers a unique combination of technical project work, professional development, and long-term growth potential.
