Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Low Voltage Technician to join our team, responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting a variety of telecommunications and low-voltage electrical systems. This role involves working on diverse projects including fiber optic systems, structured cabling, network wiring, and telecommunication systems. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical proficiency, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team to ensure optimal system performance and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and troubleshoot low-voltage electrical systems including fiber optic networks, structured cabling, Ethernet, Cat5/Cat6 cabling, and telecommunication systems.
• Perform fiber splicing and fiber optic systems installation to ensure high-quality data transmission.
• Set up and test communication systems such as VoIP, Cisco routers, Juniper equipment, Avaya systems, and other networking hardware.
• Use diagnostic tools like ohmmeters and telecommunications testing equipment to identify and resolve system issues.
• Terminate cables accurately with proper cable management techniques including cable termination for network wiring.
• Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals for system installation and troubleshooting.
• Conduct network installation tasks including LAN setup, radio frequency (RF) testing, and equipment repair.
• Assist with the installation of telecommunication infrastructure using hand tools and power tools while adhering to safety standards.
• Perform routine maintenance on equipment to ensure reliable operation of communication systems.
• Collaborate with clients to provide excellent customer service during site visits and system setups.

Skills

• Proficiency with CCTV installation and troubleshooting.
• Experience in field service operations across various environments.
• Strong knowledge of fiber splicing techniques and fiber optic systems installation.
• Familiarity with computer networking concepts including Ethernet, LANs, VLANs, and network wiring standards (Cat5/Cat6).
• Ability to read schematics and technical diagrams related to telecommunication systems.
• Hands-on experience with Cisco routers, Juniper devices, Avaya communication systems, VoIP technology, and telephony equipment.
• Skilled in using diagnostic tools such as ohmmeters and telecommunications testing equipment for troubleshooting purposes.
• Knowledge of AC/DC electrical systems and low-voltage electrical wiring practices.
• Experience with structured cabling installation including network cabling (Cat5/Cat6), cable termination, and cable management.
• Familiarity with radio frequency (RF) testing methods for wireless communication systems.
• Ability to work with telecommunication infrastructure using hand tools and power tools safely.
• Strong technical proficiency in telecommunications testing equipment and equipment repair procedures.
