Responsibilities

• Develop and implement treasury policies aligned with organizational goals, ensuring compliance with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) and other regulatory requirements.
• Manage daily cash flow operations, including forecasting, liquidity management, and banking relationships to optimize cash utilization.
• Oversee the preparation of financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, utilizing financial software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, or similar systems.
• Conduct detailed account reconciliation processes for general ledger accounts, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and bank statements to ensure accuracy and integrity.
• Lead the organization’s compliance efforts related to IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards), GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), and other applicable accounting standards.
• Supervise and mentor accounting teams responsible for payroll, cost accounting analysis, regulatory reporting, and technical accounting functions.
• Ensure timely completion of financial close processes, including journal entries, account analysis, and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Facilitate internal controls related to SOX compliance and manage external audits related to governmental or nonprofit accounting standards.
• Analyze financial data using Excel data analysis techniques to support budgeting, forecasting, and strategic decision-making initiatives.
• Maintain strong knowledge of regulatory requirements affecting nonprofit organizations or government agencies to ensure ongoing compliance.

Experience

• Proven experience in managing treasury functions within nonprofit or governmental organizations with a strong understanding of nonprofit accounting principles.
• Demonstrated expertise in financial concepts such as double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, and general ledger reconciliation.
• Extensive experience with financial software platforms including QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, or similar systems; proficiency in spreadsheets for data analysis is essential.
• Strong background in managing accounting teams focused on corporate accounting tasks like accounts payable/receivable, payroll processing, and financial reporting.
• Familiarity with regulatory compliance accounting standards such as SOX requirements and IFRS standards is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of cost accounting analysis techniques and budgeting processes within complex organizational structures.
• Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly through written reports and presentations for diverse audiences.
