What they need
Company Intro:
Founded in 2003 by Chad Wekelo, Actualize Consulting emerged from a vision to create a niche firm where every team member is valued as a collaborator rather than just an employee. Drawing from his Big Four experience, Chad, alongside partners Matt Seu and COO, Kerry Wekelo; built a company specializing in Capital Markets, Mortgage and Fixed Income, and Treasury Operations. Their leadership fostered a culture rooted in gratitude, trust, and growth. Kerry's personal journey led to the development of wellness-based principles that transformed the company's culture. This commitment to employee well-being and mutual respect has earned numerous accolades, including recognition as a Top Workplace by The Washington Post and Great Place to Work Certified. Beyond internal culture, Actualize is dedicated to diversity, inclusion, and community impact; and a belief that a people-first approach drives both personal fulfillment and professional excellence.
Job Description:
As a Treasury Risk Consultant in our Treasury practice, you'll advise corporate treasury teams and financial institutions on identifying, measuring and managing financial risk, including liquidity, interest rate, foreign exchange, commodity and counterparty credit exposure. You'll assess risk, analyze market trends, design hedging programs, support hedge accounting, and implement the risk and derivatives capabilities of leading Treasury Management Systems, working directly with treasury leadership to safeguard their organizations' financial health and turn risk insight into better decisions.
What you'll do:

- Interest Rate and FX Management: Design hedging strategies using swaps, options, forwards and futures, including exposure analysis and currency hedging for international transactions
- Risk Policy and Governance: Design and document treasury risk management policies, hedge programs and governance frameworks
- Hedge Accounting: Develop and implement hedge accounting strategies under ASC 815 and IFRS 9, including hedge documentation and effectiveness testing
- Valuation and Financial Accounting: Value financial instruments and portfolios, validate market data and curve inputs (e.g., Bloomberg, Refinitiv), and advise on fair value (ASC 820) and GAAP/IFRS reporting
- Credit Risk Analysis: Evaluate counterparty credit risk and recommend measures to mitigate credit exposure in treasury transactions
- Financial Modeling and Analytics: Build financial models, exposure forecasts, sensitivity and scenario analyses, and risk metrics such as VaR and cash flow at risk, with clear management reporting
- Technology Implementation: Implement risk and derivatives modules in TMS platforms such as Kyriba, FIS Quantum, ION (Reval, IT2, Wallstreet Suite) and Ripple Treasury
- Client Leadership: Lead workstreams and client workshops, present recommendations to treasury leadership, and contribute to proposals and mentoring
What you bring:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration or a related field
- 3–7 years of experience in corporate treasury, bank treasury, financial risk management, valuation, hedge accounting or treasury consulting, ideally within financial services
- In-depth knowledge of derivatives (FX forwards, swaps and options; interest rate swaps, caps and futures), their valuation and risk management techniques
- Hands-on experience with at least one Treasury Management System (e.g., Kyriba, Quantum, Reval, IT2, Ripple Treasury)
- Advanced Excel and VBA skills
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and deliver high-quality work within tight deadlines
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly and concisely
- Ability to manage multiple client priorities and work both independently and collaboratively in a remote environment
Nice to have:
- CFA, FRM, CTP or CPA designation
- Experience with benchmark rate transition (SOFR), commodity hedging or treasury payments (ISO 20022)
- Familiarity with SQL, Python or Power BI for data analysis and reporting
- Prior consulting or client-facing implementation experience, ideally with a financial services consulting firm
