Tree Climber

Job Summary:

The Tree Climber is responsible for performing tree care services including climbing, rigging, pruning, trimming, and tree removals on residential and commercial properties. This position works as part of an arbor crew and is responsible for completing assigned work safely, efficiently, and according to company and industry standards. The position requires tree climbing and arboriculture experience, knowledge of proper climbing and rigging techniques, and a strong commitment to workplace safety and quality workmanship.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Perform tree climbing and rigging operations in accordance with established safety procedures.
• Perform tree removals, trimming, and pruning as assigned.
• Properly use climbing equipment, ropes, knots, rigging systems, chainsaws, and other arbor tools and equipment.
• Aide with identifying job-site hazards and immediately communicate safety concerns.
• Follow established climbing, rigging, and tree-care procedures.
• Follow company safety policies and applicable ANSI Z133 safety standards.
• Operate chippers, stump grinders, and other arbor equipment when trained and authorized to do so.
• Inspect climbing gear, tools, and equipment before use and report damaged or unsafe equipment.
• Aide with job-site setup, cleanup, and organization.
• Maintain high-quality workmanship and complete assigned work efficiently.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Valid Driver's License (Required): The role involves occasional travel to client sites, or events, requiring a valid driver's license. Will have to drive and operate company vehicles.
• Work well within a diverse and inclusive workplace, demonstrating flexibility and strong interpersonal skills.
• Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a crew.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safe work practices.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Education and Experience:

• Minimum 1-2 years of professional tree care experience, including removal, pruning and rigging.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Demonstrated ability to safely climb various types and sizes of trees.
• Strong knowledge of industry best practices and safety standards.
• Ability to work effectively as part of an arbor maintenance crew.
• Experience operating arbor equipment such as chippers and stump grinders preferred.
• Ability to manage assigned job components efficiently.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and work outdoors for extended periods.
• Ability to lift, carry, and maneuver materials, tools, and equipment up to 50 pounds.
• Manual dexterity for handling landscaping tools and equipment.
• Ability to work in outdoor environments with exposure to heat, cold, rain, and other weather conditions.
• Clear vision and hearing to safely operate equipment, inspect work, and communicate with team members.
• Ability to climb various types of trees efficiently and safely.

Preferred Qualifications:

• ISA Certified Arborist credential is a plus.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
