We are seeking an experienced, motivated Tree Crew Leader to lead a team of tree care professionals, oversee daily operations, and ensure every job is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company standards.

Position Summary

The Tree Crew Leader is responsible for supervising, training, and motivating crew members to perform their duties safely and effectively. This position oversees daily job-site operations, employee development, productivity, work quality, and compliance with company policies and industry standards.

The ideal candidate is an experienced arboriculture professional with strong leadership skills, a commitment to safety, and the ability to develop a productive, accountable team.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Provide professional arboriculture services in accordance with Ahlum & Arbor standards, ANSI A300 pruning standards, and ANSI Z133 safety standards.
• Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the assigned tree care crew and job sites.
• Establish daily objectives and communicate clear instructions and expectations to team members.
• Monitor crew productivity, work quality, and job completion timelines.
• Ensure all work meets company standards and customer expectations.
• Promote a strong safety culture and ensure crew members follow company safety policies, procedures, and applicable industry standards.
• Train, coach, and develop team members in proper tree care techniques, equipment operation, and job-site procedures.
• Monitor team performance and identify opportunities to improve productivity, efficiency, and workmanship.
• Complete all required paperwork, job documentation, and software entries accurately and on time.
• Communicate job progress, concerns, and completion updates to the Tree Care Manager, Branch Manager, and Sales Arborist as needed.
• Inspect and maintain assigned tools, equipment, safety gear, and vehicles in safe working condition.
• Identify job-site challenges and communicate solutions or resource needs to management.
• Provide professional, courteous customer service and represent Ahlum & Arbor positively.
• Support the Tree Care Manager and Branch Manager with additional operational responsibilities as needed.

Required Qualifications

Candidates must meet the following requirements:

• ISA Certified Arborist certification: Must hold the certification or be able to obtain it within six months of hire.
• Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL-A): Must hold a valid CDL-A or be able to obtain it within six months of hire.
• Leadership experience: Minimum of three years of experience leading a team of four or more direct reports.

Additional Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of arboriculture, tree care practices, pruning techniques, and plant health.
• Knowledge of ANSI A300 pruning standards and ANSI Z133 safety standards.
• Demonstrated leadership ability, including experience training, coaching, and motivating employees.
• Ability to monitor team performance, evaluate productivity, and maintain quality standards.
• Knowledge of workplace safety practices, company policies, and operational procedures.
• Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Professional, friendly, and customer-focused attitude.
• Ability to manage multiple job-site priorities while maintaining safety and efficiency.
• Commitment to teamwork, accountability, and high-quality customer service.
