Please be aware that overnight travel (4-5 days/week) can occur at times throughout the year. In such cases, we book/pay for the rooms, and our team members receive $75 per diem for each night they are staying out of town.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

We are looking to add someone to our team who can fill the role of an experienced Tree Trimmer A and/or a Crew Foreman. Work involves responsibility for supervising, assigning and participating in a variety of tasks, often hazardous, including pruning, felling, spraying, and removing rural, urban trees. A team member in this class is responsible for all record keeping necessary for the evaluation of subordinate team members and proper administrative reporting of crew activities. The work is inspected in progress and is subject to final review by a supervisor or utility forester for conformance with instructions. Supervision is exercised over subordinate arborists and lower level team members engaged in tree clearing & maintenance work.

• Have a good working knowledge of all the equipment and tools used on crews and know how to operate the equipment in the most efficient manner.
• Demonstrate possession of the knowledge and experience required in subordinate positions.
• Have a broad knowledge of all climbing skills and all other technical aspects (both mechanical and manual) of electrical line clearance operations.
• Assist in on-the-job training for less experienced climbers and bucket operators.
• Must have proven skills through job performance as a top climber (CA).
• Possess sufficient communication skills to ensure that crew members have proper understanding of work directives and the ability to effectively communicate with customers/property owners about work practices to obtain their concurrence with the necessary work.
• A Foreman will obtain or already possess considerable knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the work and ability to train new personnel in safe and effective methods of tree maintenance.
• Considerable knowledge of tree and shrub species for identification purposes
• Knowledge of rigging methods
• Knowledge of insects, parasites and diseases which attack trees and of proper control methods
• Ability to climb trees and work with aerial equipment at varying heights and angles
• Ability to supervise, assign, direct and evaluate the work of subordinates. Ability to maintain necessary time sheets, records, etc. as required
• Ability to perform strenuous physical activity, including lifting up to 100 pounds, and to work in adverse weather conditions

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Valid driver's license; reliable transportation and valid driver's license; authorization to work for any employer in U.S.; be at least 18 years of age.
• Considerable responsible experience in tree trimming and related tree care activities which involved operating specialized tree trimming and removal equipment
• Some experience supervising a tree work crew.
• Operation of specialized tree care equipment; and some experience supervising a work crew; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the desirable knowledge, abilities and skills.
• Ability to complete drug screen and background check.
