HireArt is helping our client find a Triage Engineer to support the reliability and performance of automotive products by reviewing simulation results, triaging failures, and connecting testing outcomes back to system and safety requirements.

In this role, you’ll analyze simulations and test data, make pass/fail determinations against defined criteria, investigate failures, and identify high-level root causes. You’ll work across testing, operations, software development, and systems engineering to reproduce issues when possible and ensure findings are routed to the appropriate functional owners for resolution.

The ideal candidate is a mid-level engineer with hands-on experience triaging issues in automotive, autonomous vehicle, robotics, aerospace, or other safety-critical systems. You’re comfortable analyzing simulation and test results, applying defined criteria to evaluate system behavior, and independently troubleshooting failures to identify likely root causes. You can quickly understand complex system behavior and communicate actionable findings to engineering teams.

As a Triage Engineer, You Will

  • Review simulation and test results, applying defined criteria to make pass/fail determinations and evaluate expected system behavior.
  • Triage failures, investigate system behavior, and identify high-level root causes based on test data and systems and safety requirements.
  • Reproduce drive-data failures in simulation when possible and route findings to the appropriate functional owners and development teams.
  • Partner closely with software development, testing, and systems teams to establish rapid, iterative feedback loops and drive issues toward resolution.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, electrical engineering, systems engineering, software engineering, robotics, or a related engineering discipline, or at least 4 years of equivalent knowledge and professional experience
  • 2+ years of professional experience working with safety-critical, complex systems such as robotics, autonomous vehicles, automotive, or aerospace technologies
  • Hands-on experience triaging technical issues, including analyzing failures and identifying high-level root causes
  • Experience reviewing simulation or test results and evaluating system behavior against defined pass/fail criteria
  • Experience with system or subsystem analysis and verification and validation methodologies
  • Understanding of software engineering concepts, including requirements analysis, source control, build processes, and design reviews
  • Experience working in Linux environments and with scripting languages such as Bash, Shell, or Python
  • Experience with issue tracking, configuration management, and development tools such as Confluence, Jira, Bitbucket, or Git
  • Strong troubleshooting, debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong cross-functional communication and collaboration skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with automotive or autonomous vehicle systems
  • Experience using simulation tools for system verification, failure reproduction, or debugging

Benefits

  • Pre-tax commuter benefits
  • Employer (HireArt) Subsidized healthcare benefits
  • Flexible Spending Account for healthcare-related costs
  • HireArt covers all costs for short- and long-term disability and life insurance
  • 401k package

Commitment: *This is a full-time, ongoing contract position staffed via HireArt. This role is onsite in San Francisco, CA and available to candidates based in the Bay Area.
