Trim Saw Operator

Position Summary

The Rip Saw Operator is responsible for safely operating and maintaining rip saw equipment to cut lumber and wood products to specified widths and dimensions. This position plays a critical role in ensuring quality standards, production efficiency, and workplace safety while supporting overall manufacturing operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Operate rip saw machinery in a safe and efficient manner.
• Read and interpret production orders, cut lists, and specifications.
• Set up saw equipment to achieve required dimensions and tolerances.
• Inspect lumber for defects and determine optimal cutting patterns.
• Measure and verify product dimensions using appropriate measuring tools.
• Maintain production flow by keeping material staged and organized.
• Monitor saw performance and report equipment issues promptly.
• Perform routine cleaning and preventative maintenance on equipment.
• Ensure products meet AWP quality standards before moving to the next production stage.
• Minimize waste and maximize material yield.
• Follow all company safety procedures, lockout/tagout procedures, and PPE requirements.
• Assist with inventory counts and material movement as needed.
• Support other production areas when workflow requires.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Previous woodworking, lumber manufacturing, sawmill, or production experience preferred.
• Ability to read a tape measure accurately.
• Basic math skills including fractions and measurements.
• Ability to work safely around moving machinery and material handling equipment.
• Strong attention to detail and quality.
• Dependable attendance and punctuality.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Frequently lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and reach throughout the workday.
• Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with noise, dust, and varying temperatures.

Safety Requirements

• Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including safety glasses, hearing protection, steel-toe footwear, and any other required equipment.
• Follow all OSHA and company safety policies.
• Participate in safety meetings and training programs.
• Immediately report unsafe conditions, incidents, or injuries.

Pay: $18.00 - $23.00 per hour
