TRS Technician (Workshop)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. TRS Equipment Maintenance & Repair

● Carry out inspection, servicing, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of TRS equipment.

● Work on power tongs, backup tongs, hydraulic power units, control systems, torque monitoring equipment, elevators, slips, spiders, manual tongs, and associated handling tools.

● Dismantle, clean, inspect, repair, replace components, assemble, lubricate, and function-test equipment in accordance with OEM procedures.

● Identify worn, damaged, or defective parts and report replacement or repair requirements to the Workshop Supervisor.

● Ensure all maintenance activities are completed to the required technical standard and within the planned schedule.

2. Equipment Preparation & Testing

● Prepare TRS equipment and accessories for mobilization in accordance with job requirements and approved equipment lists.

● Perform pre-job function tests, pressure tests, load-free operational checks, and other applicable tests as instructed.

● Verify equipment configuration, size range, dies, inserts, jaws, accessories, hoses, fittings, and safety devices before release.

● Ensure equipment is clean, properly lubricated, preserved, tagged, and ready for safe field operation.

● Support post-job inspection, servicing, repair, and preservation of returned equipment.

3. Hydraulic, Mechanical & Basic Electrical/ Electronic Systems

● Perform routine maintenance and fault finding on hydraulic systems, hoses, valves, cylinders, motors, pumps, and fittings.

● Carry out mechanical repairs including replacement of bearings, seals, gears, fasteners, wear parts, dies, inserts, and other components.

● Support basic checks of electrical cables, sensors, switches, connectors, and control components within authorized competency limits.

● Report complex technical faults requiring specialist or OEM support.

4. Documentation & ERP Compliance

● Complete maintenance checklists, inspection records, service reports, test records, and equipment history accurately and on time.

● Record parts and consumables used during servicing and repair activities.

● Support proper completion of ERP transactions related to workshop maintenance, equipment status, and material usage.

● Maintain equipment traceability and ensure identification numbers and status tags are correct.

● Report equipment defects, non-conformances, and outstanding repair requirements.

5. Tools, Spare Parts & Workshop Control

● Maintain workshop tools, special service tools, lifting accessories, and test equipment in good condition.

● Ensure measuring and test instruments used are within valid calibration where applicable.

● Maintain good housekeeping and proper segregation and storage of serviceable, repairable, and rejected components.

● Monitor commonly used spares and consumables and inform the Workshop Supervisor of replenishment requirements.

● Prevent loss, misuse, or damage of company tools, equipment, and spare parts.

6. Mobilization, Demobilization & Field Support

● Assist with loading, unloading, packing, and preparation of TRS equipment for mobilization and demobilization.

● Verify equipment and accessories against mobilization lists and job requirements.

● Provide workshop or field technical support when assigned.

● Assist TRS crews with equipment setup, function testing, troubleshooting, and minor repairs when required.

● Ensure returned equipment is promptly inspected and routed for servicing, repair, quarantine, or storage.

7. HSE & Compliance

● Comply with OGI HSE policies, workshop procedures, client requirements, and applicable safe working practices.

● Participate in toolbox talks, risk assessments, and safety meetings.

● Use required PPE and follow safe practices for lifting, pressure testing, hydraulic systems, rotating equipment, and use of hand and power tools.

● Immediately report unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, equipment damage, near misses, and incidents.

● Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workshop work area.

8. Teamwork & Continuous Improvement

● Work closely with TRS Workshop Supervisors, Technicians, Operations, Logistics, Inspection, and QHSE personnel.

● Support on-the-job training and knowledge sharing with junior personnel and helpers.

● Follow instructions and work priorities established by the Workshop Supervisor.

● Participate in equipment failure investigations and implementation of corrective actions when required.

● Identify opportunities to improve maintenance quality, equipment reliability, turnaround time, and workshop efficiency.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

● Matriculation/ Diploma / ITI / Technical Trade Certificate in Mechanical, Automobile, Hydraulic, Electrical, or related technical discipline.

● Minimum 2–3 years of relevant workshop maintenance experience, preferably within TRS, drilling, well services, or Oil & Gas equipment.

● Hands-on experience with hydraulic and mechanical equipment maintenance is preferred.

Preferred Certifications

● TRS equipment / OEM technical training – Preferred.

● Hydraulic maintenance or mechanical maintenance certification – Advantage.

● Rigging & Slinging / Banksman training – Preferred.

● Forklift or overhead crane certification – Advantage where applicable.

Pay: AED2,500.00 - AED4,000.00 per month
