JOB DESCRIPTION – CONTAINER TRUCK DRIVER

Job Title

Container Truck Driver

Reports To

Fleet Manager / Operations Supervisor

Job Purpose

To safely and efficiently transport containers between ports, terminals, warehouses, customer locations, and other designated destinations while complying with company policies and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely operate company container trucks.
• Pick up and deliver the correct containers on time.
• Verify container numbers, seals, and relevant documents before movement.
• Conduct daily vehicle inspections and report faults immediately.
• Ensure containers are properly secured before transportation.
• Follow approved routes, traffic laws, and safety procedures.
• Report accidents, breakdowns, delays, damages, or operational issues promptly.
• Maintain accurate trip and delivery records.
• Obtain proof of delivery and submit all required documents.
• Keep the assigned vehicle clean and properly maintained.
• Communicate regularly with the Operations and Fleet Management teams.
• Protect company vehicles, containers, cargo, and other company property.

Requirements

• Valid heavy-duty driver's licence.
• Minimum of 3 years' experience driving heavy-duty or container trucks.
• Good knowledge of road safety and traffic regulations.
• Knowledge of basic vehicle inspection and maintenance.
• Good knowledge of ports, terminals, and major delivery routes.
• Honest, responsible, disciplined, and safety conscious.
