What they need
As Aegis Property Management continues to grow, we are looking for someone who wants to build a long-term career with the business rather than simply filling a role. The successful candidate will be proactive, adaptable and committed to continually improving our financial systems and processes. They should enjoy working in a collaborative environment and be comfortable embracing technology and automation to improve efficiency.
Ultimately, we are looking for someone who is technically strong, commercially minded, and capable of taking ownership of the trust accounting function while providing exceptional support to both our clients and the wider Aegis Property Management team.
This is a part-time role equivalent to 3 days per week, with flexibility around how hours are spread across the working week.
Technical Skills
- Demonstrated experience in commercial property trust accounting.
- Understanding of the Property Occupations Act (desirable but not essential) and trust accounting legislation.
- Experience with property management software (preferably Rexcirrus8 or similar platforms).
- Ability to perform daily trust receipting, payments, reconciliations, EOFY reconciliations and audit preparation.
- Experience with both cash and accrual based accounting methods.
- High level of accuracy with financial reporting and reconciliation processes.
- Sound understanding of lease structures, outgoings recoveries and owner/tenant accounting.
Experience
- Minimum 3–5 years' experience in a trust accounting role, preferably within commercial property.
- Experience managing high transaction volumes.
- Previous exposure to external audits and compliance reporting.
- Ability to work independently while supporting the broader property management team.
Personal Attributes
- Highly organised with exceptional attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proactive and able to identify issues before they become problems.
- Calm under pressure and able to meet strict reporting deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain financial matters to non-financial stakeholders.
- Team-oriented with a customer service mindset.
Key Responsibilities
- Daily receipting and allocation of trust funds.
- Processing owner and supplier payments.
- Monthly trust account and bank reconciliations.
- Preparation of owner statements and financial reports.
- Assistance with annual outgoings reconciliations.
- Maintaining legislative compliance and trust accounting records.
- Liaising with auditors, contractors, tenants and owners regarding financial matters.
- Supporting the property management team with financial queries and reporting.
