About WAM

WAM is an education centre in Singapore providing personalised academic support to students from diverse educational backgrounds, including international schools, Japanese schools and local schools.

We specialise in supporting students studying international curricula, including the International Baccalaureate (IB), IGCSE and A-Level programmes. We work closely with students and their families to identify academic needs, develop effective learning strategies and help students achieve their educational goals.

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Centre Manager to lead our Orchard Centre. This role is ideal for an educator with substantial experience in international curricula who is ready to take on broader responsibilities in academic leadership, team management and centre operations.

Key Responsibilities

1. Academic Leadership

• Oversee the quality of academic support provided to students studying IB, IGCSE and A-Level programmes.
• Assess students' academic needs and recommend appropriate learning plans.
• Monitor students' academic progress and identify areas for improvement.
• Guide tutors on curriculum requirements, examination preparation and effective teaching strategies.
• Work with tutors to maintain high standards of teaching and student support.

2. Centre Operations

• Manage the day-to-day operations of the Orchard Centre.
• Coordinate class schedules, tutor assignments and student enrolments.
• Maintain an organised, professional and supportive learning environment.
• Oversee administrative and operational processes.
• Coordinate with management on centre performance and service improvements.

3. Student and Parent Relations

• Conduct academic consultations with prospective students and their parents.
• Understand students' academic goals and recommend suitable programmes.
• Communicate students' progress and learning needs to parents.
• Respond professionally to enquiries, feedback and concerns.
• Build strong, long-term relationships with students and families.

4. Tutor Recruitment and Management

• Recruit, interview and onboard qualified tutors.
• Manage tutor schedules and student-tutor matching.
• Provide academic guidance and support to tutors.
• Monitor teaching quality and support continuous improvement.
• Foster a collaborative and professional teaching team.

5. Centre Development

• Contribute to student recruitment and enrolment.
• Develop initiatives to improve student retention and satisfaction.
• Identify opportunities to improve and expand academic programmes.
• Support appropriate marketing and promotional activities.
• Monitor enrolment, retention and other relevant performance indicators.

Requirements

Essential Requirements

• At least 5 years of teaching experience in at least one of the following curricula: IB, IGCSE or A-Levels.
• Strong knowledge of the relevant curriculum, examination requirements and assessment standards.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in both English and Japanese, as the role involves communicating with students, parents and tutors from diverse educational backgrounds.
• Strong organisational, problem-solving and leadership skills.
• A proactive, responsible and student-focused approach.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience

• Experience teaching students from international schools.
• Experience in academic coordination, curriculum planning or examination preparation.
• Previous experience in tuition centre management, academic leadership or staff supervision.
• Experience in student counselling and parent consultations.
• Experience managing multiple tutors, classes and student learning plans.

Working Hours

Full-time. Working hours will generally include weekday afternoons and evenings, as well as weekends, in line with the centre's operating hours.

Specific working arrangements will be discussed during the interview.

Salary

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications, relevant teaching experience and management experience.
