Are you ready to build a career in the construction and transportation infrastructure industry?

Skilled to Build was launched in partnership with the City of Charlotte, Charlotte Economic Development, the Office of Workforce Development, and the Contracting & Procurement Department to strengthen and expand the skilled workforce needed to support transportation infrastructure projects throughout Charlotte.

The Highway Construction Building & Trades Bootcamp is designed to connect residents with industry-recognized training, hands-on experience, and career opportunities while helping participants develop the skills needed to enter and advance in the construction industry.

Our Goals

The program is designed to:

• Reduce barriers to employment and career advancement
• Provide participants with industry-relevant skills and certifications
• Prepare individuals for employment in highway construction and related trades
• Connect participants directly with local construction employers
• Support job retention and career advancement
• Help individuals transition into new career specialties
• Promote long-term economic self-sufficiency

5-Week Training Includes

Participants will receive training in:

• Work Readiness
• Journey from Application to Interview
• Flagger Training
• Forklift Training
• OSHA-10
• Heavy Equipment
• Hands-On Construction Training
• Job Interviews with Local Construction Companies
