Job Title: Turnaround Scheduler

Job Description: Element Staffing is recruiting for a Turnaround Scheduler for a large, reputable chemical company in Pasadena, TX. The Turnaround Scheduler is responsible for developing, maintaining, analyzing, and controlling the integrated turnaround schedule using Oracle Primavera P6. The Scheduler works with Turnaround Management, Maintenance, Operations, Engineering, Planning, Procurement, Materials, and contractors to ensure scope is logically sequenced, schedule-ready, and aligned with execution requirements. This position is the schedule-control focal point from immediate readiness activities through turnaround execution and closeout. The successful candidate will convert planning and field information into clear forecasts, risk visibility, look-ahead schedules, and recovery recommendations.

Candidates should provide a resume identifying Primavera P6 experience, turnaround or shutdown assignments, schedule size and complexity, execution-update experience, SAP familiarity, and examples of critical-path, manpower, look-ahead, or recovery-plan reporting.

Duties/Responsibilities/Qualifications:

  • Develop and maintain the integrated 2027 Turnaround schedule in Primavera P6.
  • Integrate maintenance work orders, Operations activities, inspections, engineering and capital scope, contractor work, pre-turnaround activities, shutdown, execution, startup, and post-turnaround work.
  • Build and maintain the WBS, activity coding, calendars, durations, relationships, milestones, constraints, and logic required for a credible Critical Path Method schedule.
  • Identify and correct open ends, excessive constraints, unrealistic durations, improper logic, and other schedule-quality issues.
  • Maintain approved baselines and controlled revisions as scope and execution plans develop.
  • Coordinate the P6 schedule with the 2027 Turnaround SAP work-order population and approved scope.
  • Reconcile discrepancies among work orders, schedule activities, materials, services, contractor requirements, and execution dates.
  • Track dependencies involving procurement, materials, equipment availability, engineering deliverables, Operations preparation, contractor mobilization, and pre-turnaround work.
  • Highlight work that is not sufficiently planned, resourced, or ready for execution.
  • Maintain the data date and update cycle established by turnaround leadership.
  • Collect and validate actual starts, actual finishes, remaining durations, progress, and forecast dates.
  • Analyze Schedule % Complete, Performance % Complete, total float, critical and near-critical paths, milestone status, and baseline variance.
  • Perform schedule diagnostics and troubleshoot incorrect activity, WBS, resource, or progress rollups.
  • Monitor critical and near-critical paths and communicate impacts to overall turnaround duration.
  • Assess schedule impacts from scope growth, discovery work, delayed materials, resource constraints, equipment conditions, and field productivity.
  • Develop what-if scenarios, resequencing options, and recovery plans.
  • Maintain labor and resource requirements in P6 where applicable.
  • Develop manpower forecasts by craft, shift, area, or contractor.
  • Identify resource peaks, conflicts, and competing work fronts.
  • Support resource leveling and sequence optimization while protecting milestones and the critical path.
  • Perform frequent schedule updates during execution using validated field progress.
  • Support daily schedule-review meetings with planners, supervisors, Operations, contractors, and turnaround leadership.
  • Produce 24-hour, 48-hour, 72-hour, and other look-ahead schedules as required.
  • Integrate approved discovery and emergent work while preserving traceability and change control.
  • Report progress, critical path, milestones, manpower, delays, recovery opportunities, and forecast completion.
  • Maintain the final as-executed schedule with actual dates, durations, and sequencing.
  • Support post-turnaround review, benchmarking, lessons learned, and closeout reporting.
  • Recommend improvements to future scheduling standards, templates, updates, and reporting.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • Years of Experience: 5-10+ years
  • Education: BS preferred or industry experience
  • Shift/Travel: M-F, days + OT as needed
  • Compensation: DOE
  • Assignment Type: Contract (100% onsite)
