Overview

We are seeking applications from suitably qualified Primary Industries Tutors to support the delivery of a single cohort of the Primary Industry Skills Level 2 programme.

This is a defined body of work arising from confirmed learner demand. The cohort is already enrolled, and delivery is currently underway.

The ideal candidate will bring relevant primary industries experience and/or teaching experience and demonstrate the ability to engage and support foundation-level learners. A strong focus on learner wellbeing, achievement, and completion outcomes is essential, along with an ability to work credibly with learners, kaimahi, and community stakeholders.

This is a fixed-term role, 30 hours per week (0.8 FTE), commencing ASAP and ending on 18 December 2026 solely for the delivery of this specific cohort. This role is based at our Future Trades Campus in Whangārei, however ability/flexibility to travel to other sites within the region may be required to support programme delivery.

Due to the time-sensitive nature of this assignment, we're seeking expressions of interest urgently - early application is strongly encouraged, as this position may close as soon as a suitable candidate is confirmed.

Skills, Experience and Attributes

The successful candidate will have demonstrated practical and theoretical up-to-date primary industries knowledge and will meet the following criteria:

  • Hold a qualification in Horticulture or related field at Level 3 or higher.
  • Have relevant primary industries experience
  • Hold or be willing to work towards an Adult Teaching Qualification
  • Experience teaching in a similar environment is desirable
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Be a team player
  • Be well organised with excellent time management skills
  • Basic IT and Computer skills

How to Apply

As a responsible education provider, NorthTec is committed to the protection of children and vulnerable persons and applies relevant policy and practice to meet this commitment.

Applicants for this engagement should have NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa and will be required to undergo pre-engagement checks which includes but is not limited to New Zealand Police vetting.

Please apply online and attach your current CV and covering letter highlighting your skills and experience that align with this role.

Given the time-sensitive nature of this assignment, applications will be assessed as they are received, and this EOI may close without notice once a suitable candidate is confirmed.
