UI/UX Design Intern

Why This Role Matters Our programs reach real people, and our design should reflect the empathy and energy behind them. As our UI/UX intern, you'll shape how people find our message, use our tools, and feel part of what we're building.

What You'll Do

• Design clear, inclusive, accessible interfaces for our website, landing pages, and campaigns.
• Create layouts, icons, and illustrations that reflect our values
• Work with the content, program, and outreach teams to turn ideas into user-centered designs.
• Run light user research, or read feedback, and use it to improve your work.
• Help maintain a consistent design system and brand across touchpoints.
• Use AI-assisted design tools (Figma AI, Claude, v0, and similar) to move faster from idea to draft.

What We're Looking For

• A real interest in design that carries empathy, inclusion, and impact.
• Hands-on with Figma (and any of Adobe XD, Canva, Sketch).
• Strong visual and layout sense.
• Grasp of UX basics: usability, accessibility (WCAG), responsive design.
• Comfort using AI design tools as part of your process, with the judgement to know when to keep or throw away what they produce.
• A portfolio (personal or student work is fine) that shows how you think, not just how things look.
