Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Ultrasound Technician / Vascular Sonographer to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will have 2–5 years of hands-on ultrasound experience, with a strong background in vascular imaging and a commitment to providing high-quality patient care.

In this role, you will perform diagnostic ultrasound and noninvasive vascular studies to assist physicians in the evaluation and diagnosis of vascular conditions. We are looking for someone who is confident in their technical abilities, attentive to detail, comfortable working independently, and able to provide a professional and reassuring experience for every patient.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform high-quality diagnostic ultrasound examinations and noninvasive vascular studies in accordance with established protocols and physician orders.
  • Perform arterial and venous examinations using ultrasound and Doppler equipment to assist in the diagnosis and evaluation of vascular disease.
  • Conduct studies involving the upper and lower extremities, abdomen, cerebrovascular system, and other areas as clinically indicated.
  • Perform specialized vascular studies, including dialysis access evaluations and other advanced examinations, based on experience and departmental needs.
  • Obtain accurate measurements, images, waveforms, and supporting documentation necessary for physician interpretation.
  • Review studies for technical quality and determine whether additional images or testing may be necessary before completion of the examination.
  • Document preliminary technical findings and communicate pertinent information to the interpreting physician as appropriate.
  • Explain procedures to patients, answer questions, and help ensure patient comfort, dignity, and safety throughout the examination.
  • Recognize significant or potentially urgent findings and follow established procedures for communicating concerns to the appropriate clinical team member.
  • Maintain ultrasound equipment in clean and proper working condition and report equipment concerns promptly.
  • Follow infection-control, patient-identification, safety, and documentation standards.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and complete required documentation in a timely manner.
  • Participate in quality assurance, process improvement, and other initiatives designed to maintain a high standard of patient care.
  • Maintain current professional knowledge through continuing education, training, and applicable professional organizations.
  • Work collaboratively with physicians, providers, clinical staff, and other members of the healthcare team.

Qualifications

  • 2–5 years of professional ultrasound/sonography experience strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience performing vascular ultrasound studies, including arterial and venous examinations.
  • Strong knowledge of vascular anatomy, physiology, pathology, and Doppler principles.
  • Proficiency with diagnostic ultrasound equipment and imaging techniques.
  • Ability to obtain high-quality diagnostic images while recognizing when additional views or studies may be necessary.
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology and diagnostic imaging practices.
  • Knowledge of infection-control and aseptic techniques.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accurate documentation.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to provide compassionate patient care.
  • Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current ARDMS registration and/or vascular credential such as RVT.
  • Experience performing a broad range of arterial and venous vascular studies.
  • Experience with dialysis access studies, cerebrovascular studies, or other advanced vascular examinations.
  • Current BLS certification.
