Position: School Security Guard

Job Description:

The Benjamin Banneker Preparatory Charter School is seeking a school security guard.

As a BBPCS staff member, you will promote the achievement of students’ educational goals and learning objectives by providing a safe and secure environment to ensure better learning experience.

Core Functions:

• Patrol and monitor hallways, outside facilities and other unsupervised places of the school to ensure the safety and well-being of students and staff and the security of the facility.
• Ensure a smooth traffic flow of students through the hallways in accordance to the Banneker System.
• Assist with morning arrival and afternoon dismissal of students.
• Conduct regular inspections of windows and door to ensure they are secured.
• Remove disruptive students from the classroom when needed.
• Assist the professional staff, police, and emergency personnel in handling emergencies or disruptive situations.
• Assist visitors with directions and secure proper identification.
• Challenge unauthorized visitors prior to entrance and escort them to exits.
• Schedule and administer Safety Drills and maintain Safety Drill logs.
• Promote student responsibility for behavior and attitude by serving as a role model and dressing and grooming professionally.
• Display ethical and professional behavior in working with students, parents, school personnel, and outside agencies associated with the school.
• Adhere to federal statutes and regulations, New Jersey school law, construction codes, State Board of Education rules and regulations, Board of Trustees policies and procedures, and contractual obligations.
• Answer main office telephone in a professional manner.
