Duties

• Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on underground mining equipment including excavators, loaders, haul trucks, and drills.
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues using schematics, electrical diagnostics, and hydraulic system analysis to identify root causes efficiently.
• Conduct welding, fabrication, and assembly work to repair or modify equipment components as needed.
• Maintain detailed service records and logs of all repairs, inspections, and maintenance activities for compliance and safety standards.
• Operate heavy equipment such as cranes, forklifts, and excavators safely during maintenance procedures.
• Diagnose diesel engine problems including transmissions, air brakes, suspension systems, HVAC units, and electrical systems.
• Ensure all work complies with safety protocols related to underground mining operations and equipment handling.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a heavy equipment mechanic with a focus on construction machinery servicing or industrial equipment repair.
• Dealership experience or OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) training is highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of diesel engine diagnostics, hydraulic systems, electrical troubleshooting, and schematics interpretation.
• Skilled in welding, fabrication, use of hand tools, power tools, and soldering techniques for equipment repair.
• Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and operate machinery such as excavators or cranes during maintenance tasks.
• Familiarity with construction machinery maintenance standards including tire service, brake repair, alignment, suspension work, and HVAC systems.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on equipment troubleshooting and automotive diagnostics.
• Valid certifications in electrical experience, diesel mechanics, air brake systems, or related fields are preferred.
• Ability to work in confined underground environments while adhering to safety regulations.
