About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Underground Training Officer to join our team and take responsibility for the delivery and coordination of underground training and competency programs across site.

This is a hands on, site based training role suited to someone who enjoys working closely with crews and being actively involved in underground operations. With small crews, flexibility is key and there will be opportunities to remain hands-on and provide practical support to operations when required.

You will be responsible for ensuring employees and contractors are trained, competent and authorised to perform their roles, while supporting the ongoing development of the site workforce.

Key responsibilities include:

• Develop, deliver and assess underground training and competency programs.
• Conduct on-the-job training and competency assessments in line with the site Training Needs Analysis.
• Maintain accurate training records and LMS requirements.
• Manage Permits to Train and monitor progression through to competency sign-off.
• Work closely with supervisors to ensure crews are trained and authorised for allocated tasks.
• Identify training gaps and coordinate remedial and refresher training.
• Develop training plans for new starters, apprentices and trainees.
• Ensure training materials and assessments remain current and aligned with legislation, codes of practice and site procedures.
• Provide practical and technical support to operations when required.
• Coach and mentor employees to build capability and competency.
• Support ERT training, drills and competency requirements.
• Assist with pre-starts, toolbox talks and training-related meetings as required.

About You

We are looking for someone with solid underground mining experience who can build strong relationships with crews and deliver practical, effective training in an operational environment.

You will ideally have:

• Demonstrated underground mining and training experience.
• Relevant training and assessment qualifications.
• Strong knowledge of underground mining equipment, practices and competencies.
• Excellent communication, coaching and mentoring skills.
• A practical and adaptable approach.
• The ability to work independently and engage effectively with small crews.
• A willingness to remain hands-on and assist operations when required.

An Underground Supervisor Ticket would be advantageous and will be reflected in the salary package, along with relevant experience, qualifications and demonstrated capability.
