Underwriter Assistant Manager

We are looking for an experienced General Insurance Underwriter to join our team and take a key role in managing underwriting activities, leading the team, and supporting the Head of Department.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess and evaluate insurance risks in line with underwriting guidelines and risk appetite.
• Review and approve underwriting submissions, including terms & conditions, coverage, and pricing.
• Coordinate with Marketing teams, brokers, and related departments on risk placement.
• Lead, supervise, and develop the underwriting team to ensure effective and efficient operations.
• Monitor underwriting portfolio performance and provide recommendations for improvement.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, underwriting standards, and applicable regulations.
• Assist the Head of Department in preparing monthly and annual underwriting reports and analysis for Management.
• Support the Head of Department in monitoring departmental performance and other underwriting-related matters.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in any major, preferably Insurance, Management, or related fields.
• Minimum 6 years of experience in General Insurance underwriting.
• Experience in team supervision or leadership is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of underwriting, risk assessment, and policy placement.
• Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
• Good reporting and data analysis skills.
• AAIK/AAAIK certification will be an advantage.
• Mandarin proficiency will be an advantage.
