CNA’s Underwriting Summer Internship Program is a dynamic 10-12 week training program (summer 2027) that provides hands-on Underwriting experience and unique opportunities in the insurance industry. This program gives each intern their own manager and practical Underwriting assignments to gain real-world experience. Works in a business area on projects and other activities which support the business, and may perform other duties related to the internship.

Interns can be placed in one of the following areas within the Actuarial organization Commercial Property & Casualty Lines or Specialty Lines (Management Liability, Cyber):

Our internships are based out of our New York City office (1166 Avenue of the Americas, New York, NY) and work a hybrid schedule typically consisting of 4 days in office and one day optional remote.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Program Features and Benefits:

• Learning sessions covering various topics related to the insurance industry.
• Professional and personal development activities which may include attending broker meetings, job shadow activities, data gathering and account preparation, account review and analysis exercises,  public speaking, and preparing a presentation.
• Consideration for potential full-time placement upon graduation.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

• Must have at least sophomore standing.
• Expected graduation date between Dec 2027 - May 2029
• Open to all majors.  Insurance & Risk Management, Finance or other related degrees preferred.
• GPA of 3.25 or higher preferred.
• Interest in the Insurance Industry.
• Must be familiar with the Actuarial exam process.
• Ability to learn quickly, work both independently and as part of a team, and cultivate and maintain positive business relationships.
• Strong organization and project management skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Effective problem solving, analytical aptitude, and ability to embrace change.
• Demonstrated leadership ability a plus.

In certain jurisdictions, CNA is legally required to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation for this role. In District of Columbia, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New York and Washington, the national base pay range for this job level is $35,000 to $65,000 annually. Salary determinations are based on various factors, including but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location.
