Underwriting Internship Program - Global Risk Solutions - Summer 2027

Then you'll be in your element as an Underwriting Intern with Liberty Mutual's Global Risk Solutions team.

The Details Our Underwriters Focus On Two Fundamental Questions

• Should Liberty Mutual provide insurance coverage for a particular organization?
• What is a fair price for the risk we would assume by providing that coverage?

As an Underwriting Intern, you'll help uncover the answers.

Throughout this 11-week internship, you'll work alongside experienced underwriters and gain exposure to the art and science of evaluating risk. You'll learn how underwriting decisions support business growth, protect customers, and contribute to a profitable portfolio.

Global Risk Solutions Underwriting Global Risk Solutions (GRS) Partners With Mid-sized, Large, And Multinational Organizations To Help Them Manage Complex Risks. Our Underwriters Analyze Businesses, Industries, Operations, And Financial Information To Develop Insurance Solutions That Meet Customer Needs While Supporting Sound Business Decisions. As An Intern, You'll Have The Opportunity To

• Learn how underwriters evaluate and price risk
• Develop analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
• Gain exposure to commercial insurance products and coverages
• Collaborate with underwriting professionals and business partners
• Contribute to projects and initiatives that support business objectives

You'll gain firsthand insight into how underwriting professionals balance data, judgment, and relationship management to make informed business decisions every day.

This position may have in-office requirements depending on candidate location. Qualifications What you’ve got

• You are pursuing a bachelor's degree in Risk Management & Insurance, Economics, Business, or comparable with at least one semester remaining following the Summer of 2027 with a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA.
• You have 0-2 years of professional experience.
• You possess strong analytical, decision-making, and negotiating skills.
• You have solid interpersonal skills and demonstrate a passion for customer service.
• You must be willing to complete professional designation(s) and continued insurance education post graduation.
• You must be available to work full-time for 11 weeks.
• You must have permanent work authorization in the United States.

About Us Pay Philosophy: The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by a number of factors including skills, experience, education, certifications and location. The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.
