Underwriting Manager

About the role

We are seeking a highly motivated Underwriting Manager to serve as the technical specialist for Consumer Lines, including Accident & Health, Travel, and Personal Lines. This role is ideal for an experienced underwriting professional who is passionate about product innovation, portfolio performance, and driving profitable growth. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping underwriting strategy, enhancing product offerings, and supporting business growth through sound underwriting judgment and strong cross-functional collaboration.

Key responsibilities

• Refresh existing products and develop new products in partnership with Business Development, Regional Underwriting, Claims, and Legal & Compliance.
• Underwrite new and renewal business in line with Underwriting Guidelines, Policies and Procedures, Underwriting Authority, and Risk Appetite.
• Monitor and manage the portfolio by extracting and analyzing results, identifying emerging trends and issues, and recommending actions to support desired outcomes.
• Review and improve processes related to referrals, product implementation, and portfolio management to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by management.

About you

• Minimum 5 years of underwriting experience in Accident & Health, Travel, or Personal Lines insurance.
• Proven experience developing, driving, and executing underwriting strategies and best practices.
• Strong data handling skills, including extracting information from systems and manipulating data in Excel or similar tools.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse internal stakeholders.
• A strategic thinker with strong commercial underwriting judgment.
