Underwriting Officer / Underwriter

Our client is seeking an Underwriter to support the expanding commercial insurance portfolio by managing renewals, evaluating new submissions, and developing broker relationships.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage assigned account renewals and evaluate incoming new business submissions according to corporate procedures.
• Review technical and financial data to determine risk acceptability in accordance with underwriting guidelines.
• Prepare clear technical referral files for risks that exceed personal underwriting authority limits.
• Maintain professional relationships with brokerage houses to secure targeted new business.
• Educate broker panels on our specialty product coverage and underwriting appetite.
• Communicate with intermediaries to obtain necessary risk details and follow up diligently to close accounts.
• Provide administrative and technical underwriting support to the wider team and managers as required.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Business Administration, Finance, Risk Management, Insurance, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in commercial lines with a preference for knowledge in cyber risk analysis.
• Mature and highly organized professional with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Proactive team player demonstrating solid analytical reasoning and commercial negotiation capabilities.
• Excellent command of written and spoken English and Cantonese with Mandarin being an advantage.
• Highly proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word and Excel.
