As a Unit Secretary, you'll play a vital role in supporting our nursing team while helping create a welcoming, organized environment for patients, families, and visitors. If you enjoy multitasking, communicating with people, and keeping operations running smoothly, this is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact behind the scenes of patient care. As the central point of communication for the nursing unit, you'll collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure information flows accurately and efficiently, so patients receive exceptional care.

As a Unit Secretary, a typical day might include the following:

  • Welcoming patients, families, visitors, and physicians while providing exceptional customer service.
  • Answering telephones, call bells, and intercoms, directing requests to the appropriate team members.
  • Coordinating patient admissions, transfers, and discharges while maintaining accurate patient information.
  • Entering physician orders and updating patient records using electronic medical record systems.
  • Preparing, organizing, and maintaining reports and unit documentation.
  • Supporting the daily operations of the nursing station by maintaining supplies and ensuring an organized work environment.
  • Collaborating with physicians, nurses, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team to promote efficient workflows and positive patient experiences.

This role might be for you if:

  • You enjoy working in a fast-paced healthcare environment where no two days are the same.
  • You thrive on staying organized and balancing multiple priorities.
  • You communicate clearly and professionally with patients, families, physicians, and colleagues.
  • You take pride in providing outstanding customer service and compassionate support.
  • You are comfortable using computers and learning electronic health record systems.
  • You enjoy being part of a collaborative team dedicated to delivering exceptional patient care.
  • You're seeking a healthcare career where your organizational skills directly support clinical excellence.

To be considered for this position, candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent, along with previous clerical, administrative, or customer service experience. Strong communication, organizational, multitasking, and computer skills are essential, as is the ability to work effectively in a collaborative healthcare environment. Previous experience as a Unit Clerk, Unit Secretary, or in a hospital or medical office setting is preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology, electronic medical records, physician order entry, and healthcare documentation is also preferred.

This is a Full-Time day position. Rotating weekends and holidays.
