At headspace you will be part of something genuinely meaningful. The University Support Program is a collaborative team working to build the capacity of Australian universities to improve mental health outcomes for staff and students through the delivery of training, resources and support following a suicide.

This role offers variety, autonomy, and impact. You'll connect with universities across your region, deliver engaging learning experiences, and support communities through both everyday wellbeing initiatives and more complex situations.

why you'll love working with us

You will also be eligible to access headspace benefits including:

  • Not-for-profit salary packaging
  • 15 days personal leave
  • 14 weeks paid parental leave
  • Additional leave over the Christmas/New Year period
  • Remote/hybrid work
  • Flexible working arrangements
  • Access to EAP
  • Access to professional development

what you'll do

Working in this role, you will:

  • Facilitate online, or in-person training sessions to staff members from Australian universities
  • Develop and strengthen relationships with stakeholders from mental health and higher education sectors
  • Engage in the coordinated planning and implementation of training and capacity building strategies that a university can undertake to enhance existing mental health frameworks, and programs in place to support students and staff
  • Assist in content development for the Program

In this role, you may engage with young people and families navigating complex mental health and wellbeing concerns, including distressing or sensitive situations. We are committed to supporting our staff through supervision and reflective practice and encourage applicants to consider how this work may impact them personally.

what you'll bring

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • A tertiary qualification in education (including qualification in adult education), public health promotion, an allied health discipline, or equivalent combination of relevant training and experience (minimum 3 years).
  • Experience working in collaborative partnerships with stakeholders, ideally including higher education stakeholders, university staff and sector representatives.
  • Working knowledge of the common social and mental health issues faced by young people (aged 12-25yrs) and experienced by higher education settings, including suicide prevention and postvention.
  • Strong interpersonal and facilitation skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.

how to apply

If you're motivated by purpose, enjoy working with people, and want to help create mentally healthy university communities across Australia, we'd love to hear from you.

  • Please submit a current resume and a brief cover letter outlining how your skills and experience align with the role.
  • For further information contact Aislinnn Whittenbury, National Program Manager, University Support Program at [email protected]
